Jenny
wants nothing more for her birthday than the beautiful kite she saw in the
store window. But she is crushed when here father proudly gives her a kite
he made himself. Jenny knows the plain white kite is never going to fly
like the beautiful one from the store. And she is right; the homemade kite
doesn’t fly at all. But with a little help from the neighbours, the
humble little kite is about to undergo a transformation. And Jenny will
see her birthday present in a whole new light.
Jenny falls in love with a beautiful red kite in the store window and hopes her father will buy it for her birthday. Her birthday arrives and she receives a kite, but it is not the red one she hoped for. Her father has made her a white one. Worst of all, it doesn't fly properly. Jenny and her father and a few friends have to work together and ... well, you have to read the story to see what happens. Take a special look at Georgia Graham's prairie paintings and see what Jenny's dog is doing on every page.
