Willow and Rick
head north to Dawson City, Yukon, in search of adventure while their
parents make a documentary on the gold rush. When
Willow
tries her luck panning for gold in a river, she discovers an antique ring.
Should she keep it or try to find its owner? Rick finds an old poem stuck
in the wall of a cabin. Could it really be by the renowned poet Robert
Service. As the two siblings try to unravel these mysteries, they become
suspicious that a new friend just might be a thief.
- The
children in this story are well mannered, obedient, clever, etc, wonderful
role models! But, at the same time, they are cheeky, headstrong, daring,
and manage to outsmart the adults and get into lots of trouble.
Altogether, they are a very interesting pair with whom young readers
should be happy to identify. The background comes through as authentic,
the history lesson is painless, and the action scenes gripping. Highly
Recommended. - Canadian Materials.
- a fast-paced series
of
Klondike
adventures... a good story for the 7 to 14 crowd. -
